Senate Committee Investigates LAA MD- designate Credentials

The Liberian Senate Standing Committee on Transport has resolved to investigate the credentials placed on the Executive Mansion website, the official site of the Liberian Presidency, following President George M. Weah’s nomination of Mr. Darlington Karnley as Managing Director-designate of the Liberia Airport Authority(LAA).

Monrovia: The Liberian Senate Standing Committee on Transport has resolved to investigate the credentials placed on the Executive Mansion website, the official site of the Liberian Presidency, following President George M. Weah’s nomination of Mr. Darlington Karnley as Managing Director-designate of the Liberia Airport Authority(LAA).

The President on May 4, 2022 nominated Mr. Karnley as Managing Director-designate of the Liberia Airport Authority (LAA), subject to confirmation by the Liberian Senate.

The decision by the Senate’s Transport Committee was predicated upon the submission of the Nominee’s credentials to Senators during Monday’s confirmation hearing.

In response to the credential placed on the Executive Mansion website, the nominee denied knowledge of said credentials.

He further told members of the Committee to quiz him on the credentials he personally submitted, for he does not work with the Executive Mansion.

The Nominee said, he has worked as General Manager at the Z Praise Logistics in Philadelphia, USA, where he was involved in maximized operation excellence monitoring personnel on management principles widely.

As part of his TOR, Mr. Karnley at the same time averred, he was tasked with the responsibility to deliver business strategies and develop system and procedures to improve operational quality for team officials.

With respect to the position of the Nominee, the Chairman of the Committee, Gbarpolu County Senator Daniel Flomo Naathan concluded the hearing by indicating, the Committee will conduct an investigation based on the contradiction regarding Mr. Karnley’s Credentials placed on the Executive Mansion website and that of what he presented to the Committee, before a report is submitted to the full Plenary of the Senate for subsequent actions..
