In an effort to get an indepth understanding of the impacts and performance of APM Terminal Liberia, a team of Investigative Journalists from Copenhagen, Denmark on Thursday May 26, 2022 had an interactive interview with Montserrado County Senator, Abraham Darius Dillon, with respect to the status of the APM Concession.
Journalists Oscar Rothstein and Peter Jeppesen in an exclusive interview quizzed Senator Dillion on the performance of APM Terminal, mostly especially how the company is treating its employees at the Port of Monrovia, as well as the adherence to the terms and conditions of the Agreement.
In October 2010 Liberia signed a 25‐year concession agreement with APM Terminals,(a company from Denmark) allowing the company to operate the Port of Monrovia, having been named the preferred bidder for the port management and modernization project.
The “Tough taking” Montserrado Legislator told the Journalists that there are many issues with in the agreement that the company has failed to improve, principally, employees welfare, wages , training as well as coperate social responsibilities amongst others.
He added that, as a Lawmaker he wouldn’t wish for the company to leave the Country but will ensure that if APM wants a contract renewal, we (Legislature) will review the company’s performance report in order to determine and inform Legislators as to whether to grant APM terminal a renewal or not.
