The Plenary of the House of Representatives has mandated the Committees on Elections and Inauguration and Ways Means and Finance to review circumstances surrounding the postponement of the by-election in Lofa County and set up a new date.
Plenary reached the decision Thursday, 19 May during the 23rd day sitting following a communication from the National Elections Commission (NEC).
In NEC communication, the Chairperson, Davidetta Browne- Lansanah informed and gave reasons behind the postponement of the 10 May Senatorial By-Election in Lofa County.
The NEC Boss outlined the current court case between the Collaborating Political Parties (CPP) versus The All Liberian Political Party (ALP) and Unity Party (UP) and additional funding to conduct the election as reasons for the postponement.
Following the reading and floor debate on the instrument, Plenary mandated the relevant committees to review the communication and advise the august body within two weeks.
