LIBERIA BOARD FOR NURSING AND MIDWIFERY SUSPENDS BEH MAWEAH GEHI; FORWARD HIM TO JUSTICE MINISTRY FOR MEDICAL MALPRACTICE

The Liberia Board for Nursing and Midwifery, has suspended Mr. Beh Maweah Gehi, for time indefinite, a registered nurse working at Z. B Eye Center and Pharmacy in Ganta City, Nimba County for unethical health practice.

In a release issued in Monrovia the Nursing Board said, Mr Gehi, was found culpable of carrying out multiple eye surgeries, on little Success Konneh, age three (3), August 2020, in Ganta City, Nimba County

It further that the registered nurse in question, went beyond his score of practice, as mentioned in the Liberian Health Law.

“The action by Beh Maweah Gehi, has resulted to serious damage in the child’s eyesight”. The release noted

The Liberia Board for Nursing and Midwifery further indicated that the license of the nurse (#RN2140) was expired as far back in 2014, prior to the conduct of the surgeries in 2020.

The Liberian Health Body took the action today, April 29,2022, Friday in Monrovia.

Meanwhile, the Liberian Board for Nursing and Midwifery, has formerly complained Mr Beh Maweah Gehi to the Ministry of Justice for further action.

However, according to report, Mr Gehi has been in the practice of conducting eye surgeries in Nimba Commercial City, Ganta, for the past three (3) years.
